Manchester Medical Society

The Section of Pathology within the Manchester Medical Society was formed in 1950 when the Pathological Society of Manchester became incorporated into the Society. The Section runs three meetings per year, two afternoon symposia and one joint evening meeting with the Section of Medicine. Both of the afternoon meetings incorporate annual trainee’s prizes. Members of the Section are also entitled to attend meetings of all other Sections of the Society.

Benefits of membership

Membership of the Society confers the following benefits:

•An opportunity to meet and network with colleagues across the North West Region and beyond.
•Discounted rates for meetings.
•Quality local and national speakers and local CME.
•(Trainees only) Eligibility to enter for the annual trainees’ prize.
•Access to a secure area of the website to view presentations of missed meetings and presentations from other sections.
•Eligibility for a University of Manchester Library card (currently the Society does not have access to library literature search facilities).

As far as possible the Section Council attempts to arrange stimulating and interesting meetings covering all aspects of pathology. Inevitably the Section Council cannot be aware of all current topics that may be of interest to members and the names of potential speakers. If any Society members have any suggestions for future meetings or the contact details of potential speakers they are encouraged to contact the Section or Society Secretariat at
