Manchester Medical Society

Emergency Medicine

Background

The Section of Emergency Medicine within the Manchester Medical Society was formed at the Society Annual General Meeting on the 23rd October 2013 when it was agreed that this new Section of the Society could be established.

To launch the section Dr Clifford Mann, President of the College of the Royal Emergency Medicine was invited to give the inaugural lecture on Tuesday 25th February 2014 at 6.30 pm. His talk was well received and many questions were asked from the audience.

The venues for the meetings has been the Stopford Building at the University of Manchester and meetings afford an excellent opportunity to obtain local continuous medical education at reasonable rates.

Benefits of membership

Membership of the Society confers the following benefits:

•An opportunity to meet and network with colleagues across the North West Region and beyond.
•Discounted rates for meetings.
•Quality local and national speakers and local CME.
•Access to a secure area of the website to view presentations of missed meetings and presentations from other sections.
•Eligibility for a University of Manchester Library card (currently the Society does not have access to library literature search facilities).

Meetings

Unfortunately due to the pressures that A&E is under at the moment no meetings were organised this session.  Members will continue to receive the monthly programme card and are welcome to attend any meetings which they feel are of relevance to them.

Members who wish to help to organise meetings of the Section or have any positive suggestions should contact the Administrator of the Society.  admin@mms.org.uk
