What personal data we collect and why we collect it
We may collect your name, contact details, date of birth, qualifications, GMC/GDC number, email address, telephone or mobile numbers, biographical or professional background.
We use your personal information in a number of different ways, depending on the type of information provided. You do not have to provide this personal information but if you don’t, we may not be able to process your membership application or register your attendance at meetings.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
Application Form
When completing the application form on the site we collect the data shown in the application form. We require this information to perform our contract with you. Some information, GMC/GDC number, is required to verify eligibility and that individuals are provisionally, temporarily or permanently registerable in the United Kingdom.
Events/Meetings
If you visit our website your name and email address and the resources accessed will be collected. This information will be provided by you, and we will use your information to communicate with you about the event and relevant future events. You may be invited to complete an evaluation form when you have attended meetings. We may use third parties, such as SurveyMonkey, to send you these forms and compile responses.
Contact form
If you leave a comment on our site your name and email address will be collected so that we can respond. Your details are not stored on the website.
Who we share your data with
In order to provide our services to you, we may share your date with the following companies:
- University of Manchester Library who issue library cards and archive biographical details and records of the Manchester Medical Society within the Medical Collection.
- Companies approved by you, such as social media sites (if you choose to link your accounts to us), and PayPal where you choose to use their payment service.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
