At the Annual General Meeting of the Section held on 25th October 2001, members present agreed to the proposal that the Section  of Public Health Medicine should now be know as the Public Health Forum. The Section holds 6 meetings a year, including an annual symposium.  Highlights of the programme include the Chadwick lecture, and Presentations of Work in Public Health in the North West. 

The incoming president of the Section, Professor Sara O'Brien gave her Presidential Address "Epidemiology matters: Contributing to evidence-based food policy" on 7th February 2008.
