Members of the Imaging Council 2007/2008 Session:
At the Society Council Annual General Meeting on the 4th October 2000, it was agreed that this new Section of the Society could be established. To launch the new section a very successful half-day symposium "Imaging in the 21st Century" was held on the 17th January 2001 in the Postgraduate Health Sciences Centre at the Manchester Royal Infirmary, which included speakers who were outstanding and international experts in their field. A call went out for volunteers to serve as members of the steering committee. Twelve keen and active members , drawn from several disciplines associated with imaging (radiologists, radiographers, physicists and other technical staff), have attended meetings at which the objectives of the Section were defined and the future scientific programme planned. There are now approximately 80 members of the Section of Imaging, and we are hoping for more. The scientific meetings will take place on Thursday evenings 6 - 7.30pm, and are planned to attract not only those in disciplines closely associated with imaging, but will also prove of interest to members of other Sections. The meetings will have a varied format including not only conventional lectures, but also mini-symposia, and debates. These will be followed by a dinner, as we believe the Section will also provide a convivial social and networking environment for all involved with Imaging, in and around Manchester and the North West region.
