Applications are invited from trainee anaesthetists within the area served by the Manchester Medical Society to compete for the Manchester Medical Society Anaesthesia Abbott Trainees’ Prize.  Competitors are requested to submit a paper which may comprise: 

(1)   A report of original research.

(2)   A review of a clinical subject.

(3)   A report relating to clinical audit, particularly where this has lead to significant changes in management.

(4)   An interesting case report or case series.

 Papers of approximately 500 words plus diagrams and tables should be emailed or posted to Miss F Lamb, Administrator, Manchester Medical Society, c/o John Rylands University Library, Oxford Road, Manchester, M13 9PP, the closing date is Monday 3rd December 2007 Presentations should take no longer than 10 minutes with a further 5 minutes for questions and entrants should state his/her precise involvement in the project.

 There is a Prize of £250 for the winner, sponsored by Abbott
and a runner-up prize of £100

 The papers selected will be presented by the authors at a meeting of the Section of Anaesthesia on Thursday 14th February 2008 at 7.00 pm.

 The panel of judges will consider the content, presentation and response to questions from members of the audience in selecting the best paper.
